Dr. Susan A. Davis is Associate Professor and Coordinator of Music Education at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, where she directs a string ensemble, supervises student teachers, and teaches courses in string methods, instrumental methods, music education research, and the psychology and sociology of music education. As a conductor, Dr. Davis has led festival orchestras for Suffolk County Music Educators Association (SCMEA), Long Island String Festival Association (LISFA), Nassau Music Educators Association (NMEA), the Music Educators Association of New York City (MEANYC). She is also an active clinician who has adjudicated and coached groups for Fiestaval, Long Island Music Festival, NYSSMA Solo Festival, and regional school districts. As an author, Dr. Davis has published articles in the American String Teacher, Visions of Research in Music Education, the Journal of Music Teacher Education, and the International Journal of Music Education. She has also led multiple workshops and presentations for NYSSMA, NAfME, the American String Teachers Association, the International Society for Music Education, and the MayDay Group Colloquium. Dr. Davis is thrilled to be joining the Orchestrating Dreams team since she is passionate about the need for all students to have equitable access to quality music education.
