Venezuelan double bassist Carlos Sanchez began musical studies in “El Sistema” at the José Luis Paz Conservatory of Music and later attended the Simon Bolívar Conservatory in Caracas, Venezuela. He studied at the Latin American Academy of Double Bass with prominent artists Elvis Martinez, Felix Pettit, Edicson Ruiz, and Claus Stoll. Sanchez has played under the baton of Gustavo Dudamel, Daniel Barenboim, Claudio Abbado, Simón Rattle, Diego Matheuz, and Christian Vázquez. As a member of the Simón Bolivar Orchestra he has performed in venues including Carnegie Hall, Berliner Philharmonie, Het Concertgebouw, Royal Albert Hall, and Teatro Colón. Sanchez joined the Orchestrating Dreams faculty in 2018. He serves as the lower strings sectional coach with American Youth Orchestra and teaches private lessons in cello and double bass through Orchestrating Dreams.
